Even though April 15 is past, I know many of you have not yet filed your income tax returns. Hopefully, you have an extension and will file by October 15.
If you are due a refund, there is no problem, no penalties, and no interest to be paid. If you owe, you have a couple of choices in how to pay.
You can request and it is usually granted an additional 30 to 120 days to pay the tax in full. You can receive this extension by calling 800-829-1040 or completing and submitting the form through the Online Payment Agreement at www.irs.gov.
This information is provided in an effort to help you gather and organize the information necessary to file your individual or small business income tax return. While these financial tools are not a substitute for financial advice from a qualified professional, they can be used as a starting point in your decision making process.
