Congress recently passed a measure that will help you on your 2009 taxes provided you make the donation by February 28, 2010.

Due to the recent disaster in Haiti and the necessary relief needed, Congress has passed a bill allowing you to take any donations made to Haiti relief organizations between January 1 and February 28, 2010 as a donation deduction on your 2009 tax return. You must still have valid receipts for this deduction but it can be taken on your taxes now instead of waiting until you file your 2010 taxes.
